Project Overview

Key Activities
  • Cookstove Distribution: Thousands of TLC Rocket Stoves are distributed to households across multiple counties in Kenya. Each stove is constructed using high-efficiency designs—including an insulated combustion chamber and metal pot skirt—to ensure better thermal performance and cleaner combustion (learn more about the improved cookstove technology here).
  • Training and Community Engagement: The project includes robust user engagement via its Stove Champion programme, which trains local community members to educate users on correct stove usage, conduct follow-up visits, and monitor sustained adoption. Households receive in-person training on proper use and maintenance. Read more about the Stove Champion program here.
  • Monitoring and Data Collection: Stove usage is continuously tracked using a combination of Kitchen Performance Tests (KPTs) and Geocene Stove Use Monitors (SUMs). Data is collected through digital survey tools, with built-in validations such as GPS, timestamps, and photos to ensure accuracy and traceability. See more information on the project’s digital MRV data here.
  • Digital Infrastructure and Traceability: All field data flows into DISCO, Bridge Carbon’s internal Data Integrity System for Carbon Operations. The platform performs automated quality checks and plans to integrate directly with verifiers, ensuring a secure and transparent chain of custody for all project data. Learn more about the project’s data management system here.
Project Summary

Stoves come at no cost to the households, while advanced digital monitoring ensures every carbon impact is real, verified, and scalable. Slicing emissions, reducing indoor air pollutants, and decreasing cooking-related labour and time burdens in the process.
