Project Overview

Key Activities
  • Cookstove Distribution: Nearly 200,000 stoves have been distributed to more than 99,000 households across multiple provinces in Laos. Each household receives two stoves: the Ecoa Wood stove, designed for efficient primary cooking, and the locally manufactured Naga Stove, a durable secondary option. Both models use improved combustion chambers and optimised designs to ensure higher thermal efficiency and cleaner cooking.
  • Training and Community Engagement: The project includes robust user engagement through the Stove Champion programme, which mobilises local leaders to provide household training, follow-up visits, and ongoing support. Families are taught proper use and maintenance of both stove types to maximise benefits and sustain long-term adoption.
  • Monitoring and Data Collection: Stove usage and performance are measured using Kitchen Performance Tests (KPTs), household surveys, and third-party Stove Use Monitors (SUMs). Data is collected via digital tools with GPS, timestamps, and photographic evidence to ensure transparency and traceability.
  • Digital Infrastructure and Traceability: All field data flows into DISCO, Bridge Carbon’s internal Data Integrity System for Carbon Operations. The platform conducts automated quality checks and maintains secure, auditable data streams, ensuring a transparent chain of custody from stove distribution through verification and issuance of carbon credits.
Project Summary

Every household receives two stoves at no cost, while local stove production creates jobs and generates income opportunities. Efficient stoves alleviate part of the fuel-gathering burden for women and children, and advanced digital monitoring ensures every tonne of carbon impact is real, verified, and scalable. Effectively reducing emissions, mitigating exposure to indoor air pollutants, and moderating fuelwood demand all at once.
